Purple Yoshi starts the level in a hill, with a Chomp Rock and a Message Block. Yoshi can push this Chomp Rock to defeat the enemies in his way, including a Beach Koopa and Tap-Taps. Then, Yoshi finds four posts, which can be destroyed by using a Ground Pound. In the right, defeating a couple of Shy-Guys, Yoshi finds a room, in which he can use a Green Shell to defeat a line of Koopa Troopas and earn a life. Destroying the posts, Yoshi finds a gray Chomp Rock, that must be pushed down a hill, defeating various enemies in its way. There is also an invisible Winged Cloud in the Chomp Rock spot, containing stars. In the end of the long hill, Yoshi finds more posts, requiring Ground Pounds. Here, Yoshi must hit a Winged Cloud, causing a platform to appear. This platform allows Yoshi to push the Chomp Rock. He can use it then to reach a tall plain with a Flower. Progressing through the level, Yoshi finds a pipe spawning Shy-Guys, to replinish Yoshi's Eggs. Yoshi must use the Chomp Rock to destroy orange blocks, leading to a hill. In this part, Baron von Zeppelins attempt to harm Yoshi by throwing Bombs at him. There is also a Fly Guy holding a Red Coin. Melon Bugs can also be found here. After this section, Yoshi encounters a Middle Ring and has to push the Chomp Rock through various hills, defeating various enemies. He also has to ground pound a pillar, to open the way to the Chomp Rock. In the bottom of these hills, Yoshi uses the Chomp Rock to reach a Flower and some Red Coins. After this, Yoshi must ground pound various pillars, in order to open the way to the Chomp Rock; The way is a bridge of Dotted-Line Blocks, activated by presssing the ! Switch. He then gains access to a door, leading to the second part of the stage. Here, Yoshi finds a Eggo-Dil, and a Chomp Rock, used to destroy the high amount of enemies ahead. Yoshi must then hit a ? Cloud, causing a stair to appear, leading to a tall hill. In this part, Yoshi can ground pound a platform, cauisng it to become flat, and allowing him to enter a Warp Pipe leading to a Bonus Area. In this Bonus Area, Yoshi must throw an egg to a Green Glove and then jump, causing the Green Glove to hit a flower with the egg. Right after the Warp Pipe, Yoshi finds the goal, with some Para-Koopas bouncing along the floor. Enemies found[edit]Names in other languages[edit]

Yoshi's Island 1 is the first level on Yoshi's Island in Super Mario World, and the first level of the game. Though it is possible to beat the game without playing this level, it is the only way to reach the Yellow Switch Palace and to activate the yellow ! Blocks. Rexes are the most common enemies in Yoshi's Island 1. The level has a grassland theme. Overview[edit]Pipe Cannon. A Koopa without a Shell, sliding down a hill, is at the start of the level. The first Dragon Coin is found here as well, and soon after, a Banzai Bill is shot towards the player, followed by the first Rex. A winged ? Block yields a Super Mushroom. After a couple of more Rexes and the second Dragon Coin, a Super Mushroom pops out of a bush when the player passes. Just after another Rex, the player reaches a blue Warp Pipe containing a Jumping Piranha Plant. Only the Pipe to the right can be entered, but first the Rotating Blocks have to be destroyed, which is not possible when Mario or Luigi are in their small form. Slipping into the Pipe brings the player to a small area underground. The first ever regular Coins of the game can be found here, as well as the third Dragon Coin. To reach the latter, the player has to destroy the Rotating Blocks again. Leaving the room causes the player to be shot out of the Warp Pipe and right through the Midway Gate. When choosing not to use the underground way, the player finds another Jumping Piranha Plant and Rex. The Message Block ahead provides information about using the Item Storage. After a series of Rexes, the fourth Dragon Coin can be found on top of a hill; the hillside allows the player to slide down and defeat the oncoming Rex. If Mario or Luigi are in their big form, ducking right after sliding is recommended, because there is another Banzai Bill. Soon after, the player reaches another Message Block, telling them about picking up and throwing a Shell. The player can use this hint exactly at this point: they can pick up the Red Shell ahead and throw it up to hit the Rotating Block which releases a 1-Up Mushroom. The 1-Up Mushroom moves over the clouds above and finally falls down to the right. Having the yellow ! Blocks activated is useful here to catch the 1-Up Mushroom as it drops. A bit further, the player finds a ? Block which contains a Super Mushroom or a Fire Flower, depending on Mario or Luigi's current form. After another Banzai Bill and a Jumping Piranha Plant, the fifth and final Dragon Coin can be found, followed by the Giant Gate. This, however, is protected by a Chargin' Chuck, the first in the game. When not stomped on, the Chargin' Chuck does not move, instead continually jumping up. almost sounds like something from. gives the feeling of watching an ice show or a Broadway play.
